/ TISE 2024 / Last week I wrapped up an incredible experience at The International Surface Event in Las Vegas! As an interior designer, I’m always absorbed in creating the perfect aesthetic, but this event was a game-changer. 🌟 The scale of the convention was massive, and the educational value, immeasurable. Witnessing the colossal machinery in action, digging deep into quarries and fabricating countertops right before my eyes was nothing short of mesmerizing. It’s a vivid reminder of the journey from raw material like travertine, marble, granite, hardwood flooring to the polished beauty we install in our spaces. This event is now a staple on my calendar. A must-attend for anyone in the industry looking to broaden their horizon beyond the final look. Oh and did I mention there was a specific stop where we got to cuddle with super cute puppies 🐶!!!⁣

1. A color palette and any focal patterns we plan to use, such as those on rugs.

2. Furniture and decor selections, such as sofas and artwork.

3. Finishings, such as light fixtures and other textiles.

/INCORPORATION/ It's no secret that I absolutely love mixing patterns, textures, and colors within a space, but there are rules to follow when incorporating these three things together. ⁣
1. Vary the scale of patterns by mixing larger patterns with smaller ones to create visual interest.

2. Stick to a theme or inspiration when mixing patterns and textures to create intentional mixing.

3. Ensure there is a visual flow from one pattern to another by repeating colors or motifs throughout different patterns.

4. Pay attention to the orientations of patterns to achieve balance.
