Design Strategy Session
Design Strategy Session
Before you commit.Find your direction.
Available worldwide: a virtual 90-minute, $375 design strategy session.
The Design Strategy Session brings Cultural Intelligence in Design™ into a focused conversation about your home. Your heritage, family routines and sensory preferences help frame the priorities we discuss alongside your photos, floor plan and questions.
A 90-minute strategy session, $375.
Not every project needs a full design engagement to begin. Sometimes you need an expert eye on one room, one decision, or one plan before you invest further.
Bring photos of your space, a floor plan if you have one, and your questions. Together we’ll work through your priorities, what to do first, what needs professional input, and what can wait. You’ll leave with clear next steps.
Ideal for families planning a multigenerational home, homeowners weighing a renovation, or anyone who wants a designer’s perspective before they commit.

A personal lens for your next design decision
Cultural intelligence in interior design means understanding the people, place and lived experiences behind a project, then letting that understanding guide spatial decisions. Our Rooted–Rhythm–Refuge lens connects that context to how an interior is experienced.
| Rooted · Heritage & identity | We ask what your space needs to hold: daily rituals, meaningful possessions, family connections and the needs of the people who use it. Bring the stories behind your questions as well as images of the room. |
|---|---|
| Rhythm · Sensory experience | We can discuss circulation, light, texture, visual stimulation and the balance between gathering and retreat. Your own observations about how the space feels help us identify questions and design priorities worth exploring. |
| Refuge · Belonging & use | The aim is clearer direction for a home that reflects your life. We help distinguish the first practical step from decisions that need more information or a separate professional scope. |
This is an introductory application of the studio’s design lens within a 90-minute, $375 consultation. It provides strategic guidance and clear next steps; detailed research, drawings, specifications and implementation belong to a separately agreed engagement.
Neuroaesthetic interior design considers perception and aesthetic experience as part of design judgment. At R/terior Studio, this complements heritage and cultural research: we consider sensory qualities alongside personal meaning, use and context. Responses vary between people; we explore preferences through conversation rather than prescribe a universal formula.
A focused place to begin
A renovation often starts with uncertainty. You may know a room is not working without knowing whether the issue is its layout, furnishings or the way several needs compete within it.
This session gives you time to discuss those questions with Rydhima Brar, founder of R/terior Studio in Los Angeles. It is a virtual conversation built around the information you bring and the decisions ahead.
A focused 90-minute session for the moment you need clarity before you commit.
What we can work through together
Use the conversation to clarify your priorities. The session can focus on one room, a proposed plan or the broader decisions that need to be made before a project begins.
| Your priorities | What is working, what is not and which changes would make the most difference to daily life. |
|---|---|
| A room or proposed layout | How the space is used and the questions to resolve before committing to the next stage. |
| Renovation decisions | What to address first, what needs a wider design scope and where specialist input may be required. |
| Multigenerational living | The relationship between gathering, privacy and the needs of the people sharing your home. |
| Clear next steps | A direction for what to investigate, decide or discuss with the appropriate project partner. |
Your questions. A clearer next step.
Bring the decisions you are weighing, even if they are not neatly organized yet. Photos and a floor plan help ground the conversation in your actual space.
The value of the session is a clearer order of priorities: what needs attention now, what can wait and which decisions deserve a larger professional engagement.
How to prepare for your session
Choose the questions that matter most and gather photos showing the whole room as well as the areas causing difficulty. Have your floor plan available if you have one.
Think about who uses the space, what you want to keep, what you are considering changing and any timing or budget constraints. For a multigenerational household, include the needs of the different people sharing the home.
You do not need a finished design brief to begin. The conversation helps identify the next useful step from the information available.
When a session is the right starting point
Choose a Strategy Session when you want a designer’s perspective before committing to a larger project. It is useful for early questions about a room, a renovation or how your home supports family life.
If you already need a coordinated interior plan, specifications, procurement or ongoing renovation involvement, a residential design inquiry may be more appropriate. The session can help clarify that distinction.
The 90-minute conversation is not a substitute for architectural, engineering or code advice. Any specialist assessment or wider deliverable needs its own engagement.
Questions before you book
How do heritage and neuroaesthetics inform this service?
This is an introductory application of the studio’s design lens within a 90-minute, $375 consultation. It provides strategic guidance and clear next steps; detailed research, drawings, specifications and implementation belong to a separately agreed engagement.
Heritage informs the meaning and context of design choices. Neuroaesthetics adds a research lens on perception and aesthetic experience; cultural and social research helps us understand rituals, identity and patterns of use. We apply these perspectives through the brief and the people involved, rather than assume one response or aesthetic fits everyone.
What is the Design Strategy Session?
It is a focused 90-minute virtual consultation with Rydhima Brar, priced at $375. Bring photos, a floor plan if you have one and your questions. Together you will work through priorities and identify clear next steps before committing to further work.
Do I need to be in Los Angeles to attend?
The session is held by video, so you can discuss your space virtually. R/terior Studio is based in Los Angeles. Local construction or specialist questions should be reviewed with the relevant professionals for your project.
What should I bring?
Bring photos of the space, a floor plan if available and the questions you want to address. It also helps to describe who uses the room, what you want to keep and the renovation or furnishing decisions you are considering.
Can we discuss a home shared by several generations?
Yes. Multigenerational home planning is one of the situations this session is intended to support. We can discuss priorities around gathering, privacy and family rhythms, and identify where more detailed or specialist input is needed.
Will I receive a complete design plan or construction drawings?
The session is a strategy conversation intended to give you clarity and next steps. A complete design plan, drawings, specifications, sourcing or ongoing project coordination would require a separate scope.
Can the session help me decide whether to renovate?
It can help you examine what is not working, what you want a change to achieve and which questions need further investigation. It does not replace site assessment or specialist advice where those are required.
How do I book the 90-minute, $375 session?
Use the “Book a Strategy Session” button on this page to open the public booking calendar. Check the session information and available times before completing your booking.
Do I have to commit to a full design engagement?
The Strategy Session is offered as a focused starting point. Its purpose is to clarify the next steps, which may include a broader design conversation if your needs call for one.
