This bespoke carrom table reimagines the game that gathered generations of South Asian families around a single table. Designed by Rydhima Brar and crafted in collaboration with 11 Ravens, the Los Angeles atelier known for its luxury, made-to-order game tables. It pairs fine woodwork and leather with Pierre Frey upholstery to turn a cherished ritual into a modern heirloom. The table debuted at the House Beautiful Whole Home Austin 2025 showcase.
The Story Behind the Brar Carrom Table
Across India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the wider South Asian diaspora, carrom is more than a game. It is the board pulled out after dinner, the reason cousins stay up past midnight, the sound of a striker snapping across a powdered wooden surface while three generations argue over the queen. For Rydhima Brar, founder of R/terior Studio, carrom was one of the rituals that made a house feel like home.
The Brar Carrom Table began with a question: what would happen if this everyday heirloom were given the same craftsmanship and attention as the world’s finest game tables? The answer is a bespoke carrom table designed to be played every day and treasured for generations.
Designed by Rydhima Brar, Crafted with 11 Ravens
To bring the piece to life, Rydhima collaborated with 11 Ravens, the Los Angeles atelier known for its luxury, made-to-order game tables. Together they translated a folk tradition into a piece of collectible design, balancing the precise playing surface carrom demands with the proportions, finishes and presence of fine furniture.
Materials and Craftsmanship
Every detail was chosen to honour both the game and the home it lives in:
- Fine woodwork: a crafted playing surface and frame built for smooth, true play
- Leather detailing: tactile, hard-wearing and made to age beautifully
- Pierre Frey upholstery: textile from the storied French fabric house, bringing colour and pattern to the table’s edge
- Sculptural pedestal base: a grounded silhouette that lets the table stand as an object in its own right
- Brass detailing: warm metallic accents that echo the brass of traditional carrom boards
- Integrated chip holders: built into the frame so every game is ready to play
A Modern Heirloom for Gathering
Most game tables are designed to be put away. This one is designed to stay out. The Brar Carrom Table is scaled and styled to live in a salon, library, family room or games room as a statement piece, one that invites children, parents and grandparents to pull up a chair together. It reflects R/terior Studio’s philosophy of culturally intelligent design: creating spaces and objects rooted in heritage, shaped by daily ritual, and made for belonging.
Debut at House Beautiful Whole Home Austin 2025
The table made its public debut at the House Beautiful Whole Home Austin 2025 showcase, where it anchored a room designed for play, conversation and connection.
A First for 11 Ravens
The Brar Carrom Table marks 11 Ravens’ first entry into the carrom category. By raising a game traditionally played seated on the floor to table height, the design makes carrom more accessible and brings it naturally into contemporary living spaces. The launch was covered by Furniture Today in March 2026.
